The business was founded in 1951 by Russell Jones and his wife Lorna as Corowa Plumbing Supplies. Initially, they operated as a plumbing contracting business covering new cottage work, light industrial, commercial projects, roofing, and general maintenance.
The business grew in 1983 by incorporating the Steeline Division, which used mobile rollforming machinery to supply Colorbond Steel Gutter and Colorbond Steel Fascia. The Steeline concept, pioneered by Corowa Plumbing Supplies Pty Ltd, made it the largest supplier of steel gutter and fascia in the Southern Riverina, Albury/Wodonga, and Corowa areas.
Further expansion took place in 1986 with the opening of The Roofing Centre Albury/Wodonga in Union Rd, North Albury. This established a manufacturing operation for metal roofing, rainwater products, and sheds servicing the domestic, commercial, and rural markets.
In 1992, Corowa Plumbing expanded its business operations with the opening of the Home Selection Centre at its branch store in Albury/Wodonga. This expansion allowed the company to service a population base of over 100,000 people.
1993 saw the closure of the contracting division in Corowa after more than 40 years, allowing the workshop to be converted into a storage area for bulk plumbing material purchases for resale. This coincided with the company joining the national buying group, Plumbtec Australia, offering significant cost savings on stock purchases for the plumbing retail business and maintaining market competitiveness. The Corowa Plumbtec and Steel Centre saw major renovations in 2018 to expand the product range and improve customer service for its existing and growing clientele. To this day, Jones Plumbing Plus evolves and adapts, ensuring its position as a trusted name in the plumbing industry.
